Hyundai Motor America has given $5,000,000 to establish the Hyundai College of Education at Savannah State University - the largest corporate investment in the university's 135-year history and SSU's first named college.

The gift funds scholarships, technology, and educator and workforce training across coastal Georgia, and is tied to Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America, the electric-vehicle plant in Bryan County. New signage, branding and the first Hyundai scholarships followed in early 2026.
