Alumna Robin Perrtree (MS, Marine Sciences, 2011) has given $100,000 from her grandmother's estate to the Savannah State University Dolphin Sciences Lab, in honor of her grandparents, Marjory and James Russell.

Led by Dr. Tara Cox, the lab has photo-identified Savannah's dolphins since 2009, and Perrtree is now its lab manager. The gift supports research and a diverse marine-science workforce - SSU is the nation's number one producer of African American bachelor's and master's graduates in marine science.
